In the field of industrial marking, there has recently been an effort to minimize costs and seek financial savings. For example, ink technologies can save resources. When using them, the customer only buys liquids (cartridges), and thus the overall price is reduced compared to printing and applying labels. It is possible to use, for example, CIJ (continuous ink-jet), TIJ (thermal ink-jet) or HRP (high resolution print).
Long-term cost savings thanks to laser marking
When gluing labels to plastic or metal products, a possible alternative in the form of laser or micro-punching/fishing marking comes into consideration. Many customers might be concerned about the higher acquisition costs (when using a laser), but once purchased, the immediate savings come in the form of lower costs per mark, including additional consumables and service costs. In addition, the user receives permanent markings in high resolution.

For example, the company Plastia chose laser technology. It used paper labels to identify its plastic products. But they turned out to be unsuitable. A fundamental problem was their easy removal or damage and the associated loss of product identification. The costs of this type of marking were relatively high.
Various technologies using ink marking were considered, but in the end we recommended laser marking due to the durability of the marking and the long-term cost savings to the company. And that turned out to be the right way. The proposed solution brought not only permanent marking of plastic products, but also reduced costs as a result. Another advantage of the laser is the possibility to mark the product variably, which Plastia also appreciated.
