Accurate, effective and durable marking of packaging is very important for both manufacturers and end consumers. One of the advantages of labeling is ensuring traceability from production to the final consumer throughout the entire supply chain. In addition, in many industries, labeling is mandatory by law. Products must be marked with expiration dates, batches, etc.
Marking of primary packaging
Three main technologies are most often used for marking primary packaging, which you can also find in our offer.
Laser marking
Laser marking technology has a higher initial cost, but thanks to zero operating costs (no inks, thinners, filters), the investment is quickly returned, especially in high-capacity lines.
Continuous Inkjet Printers (CIJ)
CIJ printers are widely used for their balanced ratio of printing costs and purchase prices. CIJ printers can use a wide range of inks and enable printing from a greater distance from the product (up to 2 cm).
Thermal inkjet printers (TIJ)
TIJ printers, e.g. from Anser, are ideal for smaller and medium-sized businesses such as craft breweries and wineries. They are easier to operate and maintain, with low acquisition costs and easy cartridge replacement. The disadvantage is the limitation to printing from the side or from above and the maximum distance from the product to 5 mm.
Marking of secondary packaging
The marking of secondary packaging is no less important and can also be marked in several ways.
Labeling
Automatic label applicators with or without overprinting are still popular. You can read about labeling products and packaging with label applicators in one of our blog articles.
HRP printers
The trend on the market is to replace labels with direct printing on cardboard using HRP printers. This method is cost-effective and ecological, especially with the use of a linerless system, which eliminates the non-recyclable silicone carrier. Print quality reaches up to 600 DPI, which is convenient for code verification.
Pallet marking
Pallet label applicators with overprinting from brands such as CAB or Arca are most often used for marking pallets. These applicators are equipped with a printing module for direct reprinting of data on the label, which is then pneumatically applied to the pallet. Labels can be applied from one, two or all sides of the pallet according to customer requirements.
